Daily Record NEWS 18 September 2006 YOU SEXY THINGS WE ASKED SCOTS A FEW PERSONAL QUESTIONS ... A... YOU SEXY THINGS...
We wanted to know about your fantasies and favourite positions as well as your regrets, disappointments and opinions on subjects from the age of consent to internet pornography.
The thousands of you who answered our questions are certainly an active lot - engaging in some kind of sexual activity on average 29 times a month. That's almost every single day of the year.
We found that women do really fake it sometimes but, more suprisingly, men do as well. A quarter of our male respondents admitted to having done so at some point.
That could all be a waste of time though because, according to the survey, 59 per cent think a sense of humour is the most important factor that makes someone sexually attractive.
Our respondents said colleagues are the most common people fantasised about when having sex at 45 per cent, with men more likely than women to close their eyes and think of someone they work with.
Almost a third of those who answered our questions (29 per cent), have had an unwanted pregnancy as a result of not using contraception and 11 per cent have had the same experience when their birth control failed to work.
More than half (57 per cent) said they have had a regrettable sexual experience, with 21 per cent saying they regretted it because they were drunk at the time.
Worrying, too, is the fact 26 per cent of our respondents have been taken advantage of in a sexual way while under the influence of drink or drugs.
Two-thirds of respondents, 66 per cent, admitted they would have sex on a first date and 67 per cent did not believe it is a sign of promiscuity.
A majority of our respondents, 72 per cent, said they thought the age of consent for straight sex is about right, while 19 per cent said they believe the age of consent for gay sex is too low.
Around two-fifths of respondents, 42 per cent, object to the amount of internet porn available. And 72 per cent believe sufficient measures are not put in place to protect kids from internet porn.
OUTSIDE the bedroom the living room is the most popular place to have sex in the home, with 69 per cent of respondents saying they make love there. Other favourite places in the house included the bathroom, 34 per cent and the kitchen, 23 per cent. A few more adventurous souls have had sex in the back garden - eight per cent - and three per cent said they had tried out the garage as a venue.
The desire for a caring nature in a sexual partner appears to increase with age. While 29 per cent of the 18-24-year-old group of respondents agreed it was the most important factor, that figured jumped to 45 per cent for the 55-plus group.
Our respondents think Jordan and Peter Andre have more sex per month, 11 times, than Scots do. Angelina Jolie and Robbie Williams appear to be the most fantasised about celebrities, with Jennifer Aniston and Johnny Depp in second place. When it comes to dinner dates, Robbie and Jen were voted tops.
